Dear Reader,
As we embark on this journey together, I want to express my gratitude for your support to the Stan Deen Foundation. I don’t have the chance to update you as frequently as I would like, but I cherish moments when I can share our progress and successes. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our generous donors—your contributions continue to propel our mission forward, making a significant impact in the lives of many. Below I briefly highlight some of the amazing things we’ve been able to accomplish together.
I had the immense honor of accepting the “Champion of the Year” award for the Pennsylvania Chapter of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in April. While he couldn’t be in attendance that evening, it was a humbling moment to receive acknowledgment along with the Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania and connect with remarkable individuals, including Andrew Bridge, New York Times Bestselling author of Hope’s Boy. Recognition for and celebration of the work we do reminds us of the power of advocacy and encourages us in our commitment.

On May 12th, we had the privilege of speaking at the Pennsylvania State Capitol during a Q&A session hosted by bipartisan legislators focused on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and legislative reform. Prior to the Q&A State Representative Nikki Rivera shone a light on our mission by publicly acknowledging the Stan Deen Foundation’s important work before the House of Representatives in session.

Later during that whirlwind week I had the opportunity to engage with a SOLD-OUT audience at Christ’s Homes, my childhood orphanage in Warminster, PA. At this poignant return I shared updates on my journey, including Brave the Dark’s progress since my last visit three years ago, and received inspiring and encouraging warmth and support from the community.
On that same evening, our dedicated team attended the Touchstone Foundation‘s Feast of the Senses in Lancaster, PA. We are proud to announce that the Stan Deen Foundation contributed to the Bill Zee Legacy Scholarship dedicated to supporting students who share Bill’s passion for mental health advocacy, trauma-informed education, and youth wellness. We believe that this scholarship, available through Touchstone Foundation’s Mental Health Scholarships Program, will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those it touches.

Last but not least, on May 24th, we ventured down to Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood to host a film workshop in partnership with Klean Kensington. This initiative focuses on empowering youth facing extreme challenges, providing them opportunities to learn vital life skills they might not otherwise be exposed to. We look forward to returning to Kensington this summer to screen “Brave the Dark” for the community and celebrate the incredible results of our collaborative efforts.

Again, I cannot thank you too much for being a part of our journey. Each update reflects not only our achievements but also the collective spirit of hope, advocacy, and resilience that you all contribute to. Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most.
With gratitude and hope,
Nathaniel Deen
